Cambridge University Sport
Sport belongs to all
BRIEF: Get alumni to donate to university sports programmes
IDEA: Make them feel nostalgia for their time playing sport as students and moved to give this opportunity to others
RESULT: This inspiring film narrated by late great Welsh Rugby legend Eddie Butler
SCRIPT:
The sound of a distant whistle still whisks me away,
To those glorious days, defined by the freedom... to play.
Remember the crunch of boots on frozen mud.
The cheeks-flushed feel of a fresh adrenaline flood.
The cheers… The peace… the rhythm a heartbeat keeps.
The glistening early light while the city sleeps.
The rush of every challenge, tackle, shot,
The thrill of giving everything you’ve got.
The bonds of friendship forged in sweat and grit.
The taste of victory. Savouring every bit.
The broad rewards of sport may never fade.
And this rings true at every level played.
At times where stress and pressure take their toll;
Empowered by the chance to take control.
An open goal: a world of opportunity.
Of purpose, and perspective, and community.
Of confidence. Resilience. And pride.
The space to breathe. The strength you find inside.
In any space, however big or small...
We all belong, and sport belongs to all.
